Elementary, my dear Toy Pita
In Whitechapel, the latest modern version of Jack the Ripper, had heard via blogs. Like many British miniseries, had aroused my interest, without ever having to see her intention to build outstanding chapters and movies.
I did not expect was to see it through the current TV and what's more, the regional television. I'm not surprised because they have bought a recent series (in fact, had issued Nip / Tuck and Heroes, with little success), but for choosing one like this in a chain that is specifically aimed at an older audience, but today, Fortunately, with some programs themselves have improved a lot the quality of the chain. And Luar, of course. But at this point that musical gala on Friday night is immovable.
Oh, my God! I can see forever!
So the surprise was very great when, after the repetition of a sitcom, at dawn began to cast, followed, Whitechapel, miniseries, as was expected, I was left hanging until the final credits. It took its own, precisely because of this decision when casting your ballot, but also recognize their good chain when dosed publicity to a commercial break for each chapter, with no lasting two ads.
Regarding Whitechapel, was everything I expected in a British miniseries: an update very carefully, crimes of Jack the Ripper. It is not like a modern version could be Sherlock, but a copycat murderer who carried out the crimes in the same way, both as a process rather than the murderer Victorian. The law enforcement agency will be members of a local police station, a group with years of experience and plenty of contempt for what they call "destripadorólogos" and a new inspector, which, along with another child, one of the characters more peculiar: the protagonist, not only contrast in attitude and attire, much more methodical and tidy, with that of subordinates, but the boy has finished in that position by plug pure and simple, with a further step in his career to a higher post. Generally, this type of character is seen negatively, as a nuisance or useless, but in this case it turns around, showing an inspector who really wants to contribute something to the case and make their position even though their experience and intuition are zero, and not until the end when you start to perform their job. The protagonist arrives to complain of having been driven all his life and in the meeting with the chiefs, shows how his position is due to favors owed to her father, and even they take it as a figurehead. A surprise, because I believed that the plug was a English invention and which get someone with this condition liking me, is an achievement.
The second surprise was seeing a specialist Steve Pemberton by Jack the Ripper, in a role quite seriously, without histrionics or comic intent, a far cry from his career as a member of The League of Gentlemen. His character, sometimes leading inutilillo aid, and other times, nuisance, was one of my favorites.
The end of the miniseries, which, appropriately, keep quite similar to the original investigation, left an open ending with its protagonist as integrated police inspector in the police, investigating a murder more routine, in a way that might indicate a future second part of the miniseries. Which of course, if it happens and regional TV decides to buy, I would. But to adjust a few more times.
